MANISH MALHOTRA BRIDAL COLLECTION

MANISH MALHOTRA @www.manishmalhotra.in

Bridal collection from Manish Malhotra with exquisitely crafted lehengas featuring elaborate vintage motifs, delicate Kashmiri embroidery and old-world mirror-work. While the fabrics and silhouettes appeal to contemporary sartorial sensibilities, the detailed embroidery is reminiscent of Indian craftsmanship of yore. The collection is crafted in velvet and silks with the color palette ranging from soft shades of beige and gold, salmon pink to hues of rust orange and red. We can’t stop raving about the  beautiful red Lehenga that Alia Bhat  walked the runway in. @http://weddingsutra.com/

SONAAKSHI RAAJ LIME GREEN SAREE GOWN

Sari gowns: Saris veered away from their traditional roots with designers giving this style a modern update. Sonaakshi Raaj offered her usual collection of cocktail sari gowns, using sheer fabrics and slit skirts to bring just the right amount of sexy to the look. @elleindia

Whether you pick a sari from your grandma’s elaborate collection or opt for a traditional buy there are plenty ways to instantly modernise it. Start with teaming up your saris with interesting contemporary blouses. Pick from cuts like racer backs, sheer necks, crop tops and corseted bust lines highlighted with hand-woven delicate embroidery, glistening pastels and fluid structure and cuts.

ARPITA MEHTA DESIGNS

Designer Arpita Mehta’s “Starlight Collection” was inspired by her grandmother’s love for vintage cocktail dresses and Indian opulence. The fabrics she chose to create the collection consisted of tabi silk, nets, raw silk and flat chiffons. A special embroidery called “button flower,” which has 3D threadwork flowers appliquéd over mirror flowers, were used as embellishments for the ensemble. Foil and other mirrored work was used for her creations as well.
